Meet the Founder

Krystal, a proud Nuyorican from the Lower East Side, founded Buy The Block PR to help reconnect the Puerto Rican diaspora with their homeland. Her first trip to Puerto Rico at 38 was life-changing, revealing both a deep sense of belonging and the need to bridge the gap between Puerto Ricans abroad and the island. Through this movement, she’s committed to educating, empowering, and rebuilding—one block at a time.

Our Mission

Buy the Block PR empowers Puerto Ricans in the diaspora to reconnect with and reintegrate into the island with confidence. Through shared experiences, education, and resources, we demystify the relocation process—making housing, employment, entrepreneurship, and cultural adaptation more attainable. By fostering intentional partnerships with local individuals and organizations, we bridge the cultural divide and ensure revitalization efforts are community-driven and sustainable. Our goal is to help returning Puerto Ricans not just find a home, but truly belong, contribute, and build a meaningful future.

Our Vision

We envision vibrant, inclusive communities where both locals and returning Puerto Ricans unite to honor Puerto Rican culture, build local wealth, and create a sustainable future. Through integrity, compassion, and collaboration, we strive to foster a Puerto Rico where people don’t just invest—they live, grow, and strengthen the island together.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We envision vibrant, safe communities where Puerto Ricans from near and far can thrive, bringing together the best practices in construction, food sovereignty, and energy sustainability. Infrastructure in these neighborhoods will consist of locally owned businesses and essential services, including daycare centers, schools, community hubs, convenience stores, restaurants, and food enterprises. Spaces for murals, amphitheaters, and other artistic expressions will celebrate the island’s rich culture and history. Every home’s exterior will reflect the colors and architectural beauty of Puerto Rico, with welcoming porches where generations can grow, connect, and build a future on their own land, in their own soil, among their own people—because this is more than just a return; it's about

Our Strategy

To achieve this mission and vision, we will implement a multi-faceted strategy build around the following key initiatives:

  • We will leverage social media and storytelling to share real-life experiences and successes. The founder’s own journey of returning and investing in Puerto Rico will be documented through videos, blogs, and posts—providing a transparent, firsthand look at the challenges and triumphs of reconnecting with the island. This narrative approach will build trust and relatability, inspiring others in the diaspora by showing that they too can overcome obstacles and thrive in Puerto Rico.

  • We will host educational workshops and seminars—both online and in-person—to inform and empower Puerto Ricans abroad about opportunities on the island. These sessions will cover practical topics such as buying property, launching businesses (with an emphasis on ecotourism), sustainable living practices, and ways to preserve Puerto Rican culture. Through knowledge-sharing and open dialogue, we will demystify the process of moving back and investing in Puerto Rico, giving diaspora members the confidence and tools to take action. This initiative will also create opportunities for locals to get involved through an ambassador program, where they can share their knowledge, skills, and resources. At the same time, those from the diaspora will bring best practices from their experiences living in the States, introducing new business and entrepreneurship opportunities, technical skill sets, and innovative ideas that will contribute to Puerto Rico’s growth and development.

  • Building community will be at the heart of our strategy. We will actively connect Puerto Ricans in the diaspora with local experts and mentors on the island—from real estate agents and business advisors to cultural ambassadors. Through networking events, mentorship programs, and an online forum, we will create a support system that will guide newcomers through relocation, investment decisions, and cultural integration. This network will foster a sense of belonging and ensure diaspora returnees have the guidance they need to succeed and feel at home.

  • As a long-term objective, we will establish a flagship community reinvestment project on the island. We will identify a specific town or neighborhood where the founder and team will personally relocate and invest, serving as a living example of sustainable redevelopment. In this pilot community, we will refurbish properties, support local businesses, and upgrade infrastructure in a way that honors local culture and history. Lessons learned from this initiative will create a blueprint for future investments led by both native Puerto Ricans and the diaspora, demonstrating how returning Puerto Ricans can revitalize communities while preserving their heritage.
